You're part of Deschutes.We are recruiting for a talented and experienced -Sous Chef, who is driven, excels in a fast-paced kitchen, and is committed to the highest standards of quality and presentation with a guest first focus. This person will serve as a leader on our BOH leadership team, and -is responsible for oversight of Back of House (BOH) functions, including expediting, food preparation, ordering, scheduling, cost management, training, and employee development. -. -This is a full-time benefited position. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401k, ESOP, and paid vacation.Position Responsibilities:

  • Set excellent customer service & work example; consistently lead by example as a brand ambassador.
  • Adhere to kitchen cleanliness standards and ensure kitchen equipment is maintained
  • Regularly attend required management meetings; effectively communicate changes to the BOH team and other departments (if necessary)
  • Ability and willingness to assist or break out every station
  • Ability to create daily specials from scratch that will appeal to our guests while maintaining appropriate food cost
  • Ability to resolve customer issues and concerns in a professional manner
  • Monitor inventory and order product as necessary
  • Provide support to our kitchen employees by teaching cooking techniques, food preparation, and plating
  • Other duties as assignedRequirements:
    • 5 years of line cooking experience, preferably in a fast-paced, full service establishment
      • 2+ years kitchen management experience preferred
      • Valid Oregon food handlers or Serve safe card
      • Valid OLCC permit within 30 days of hire
      • Solid math skills in scaling and metric conversion necessary
      • Outgoing, positive and supportive leader
      • Ability to trouble shoot equipment issues and provide basic maintenance support to kitchen facilities
      • Skilled knowledge of excel and common restaurant software
      • Culinary education or equivalent experience with scratch and batch cooking preferredWhat's In It For You?
