The Solutions Consultant (SC) is responsible for the success of our
managedIP and business systems solutions in the marketplace, which
is measured by growing revenues, boosting product penetration, and
increasing profitability. The SC will work with Marketing and the
rest of the commercial sales team on our managedIP and business
systems solutions to introduce solutions, promote solutions
internally and externally, and fully support them. ManagedIP and
business systems solutions offer an opportunity to grow revenues by
expanding customer wallet share and reducing customer churn.
The SC duties include: coordinating with the sales teams to acquire
new customers that take our managedIP and/or business systems
solutions and expanding our service offerings to our existing
customer base. Specific responsibilities for the SC include:
working with marketing and the inside and outside sales teams to
identify customer targets; helping to identify leads and generation
of new accounts; exploring and identifying needs; conducting
pre-meeting research on leads to understand the target company;
evaluating the market; and matching the needs of prospects with the
products and services from TDS.
As part of the sales cycle, the SC is responsible for providing
customer demonstrations, auditing the prospect's system, developing
and considering alternatives for prospects, assisting with the
preparation of professional proposals, making winning
presentations, and closing the sale. Individuals in this role will
take personal responsibility for ensuring there is a smooth
transition between the closing of the sale and the transition to
the project consulting team responsible for implementation. The SC
is also available as a subject matter expert as accounts transition
from the implementation to the team responsible for retention and
growth of the account moving forward.
The SC leads by example; by assisting in prospecting,
demonstrations, presentations and helping the sales professional in
closing. He or she serves as a subject matter expert on managed and
business systems solutions and is a mentor and resource for outside
salespersons and our inside sales team. The SC provides valuable
feedback to the commercial marketing team and supports Sales
Managers on an as needed basis by providing technical, sales and
administrative information to other sales professionals.
- Assist with the development of prospects for our managedIP and
business systems solutions. Working in conjunction with the sales
professional to solicit leads from personal contacts, inside and
outside sales teams, networking professionals, customer referrals,
dealers and referral agents.
- Meet with customer targets to conduct a thorough needs
analysis, schedule a product demonstration or refer for other TDS
- Conduct a product demonstration for the customer with the goal
to create excitement, answer questions, uncover and overcome
objections and most importantly move the process forward.
- Assist with the development and presentation of a proposal to
the customer, as needed. Gather all pertinent background
information, configure the managedIP or business systems solution
and present the solution and/or respond to the customer's RFP.
- Follow-up as needed to move the sale forward including: answer
questions, respond to competitive offers, reconfigure the solution,
etc. Close the sale, conduct thorough program gathering, submit
order and follow though as needed.
- Assist with the transition of accounts to the inside sales team
for retention and growth. Answer any questions regarding the order
and be available to support the customer upgrade.
- 1+ year managed services sales experience.
- 3+ years telecommunications sales experience OR outside sales
professional at TDS for 1 + years.
- Must have and maintain a valid driver's license, insurance and
have access to reliable transportation.
- A winning and positive can-do attitude is essential to the
success of this position.
- Thorough knowledge of telecommunications, business systems
and/or information systems and the ability to educate and motivate

skills including the ability to convincingly persuade others as
evidenced in personal interviews and via telephone.
- Ability to work with other members of the sales team to
identify sales targets, pursue them with our managed or CPE
solutions and refer them back, if necessary.

them as evidenced by a track record of setting goals, creating a
work plan, establishing a reward, working diligently, measuring
performance, adjusting as necessary and then accomplishing the
