Position Information Posting Number: 06002319 Position Title: Information Security Specialist Posting Date: 05/22/2023 Closing Date: 06/09/2023 Open Until Filled (notes): Length of Position: 12 months per year Anticipated Start Date: July 2023 Position Type/Employee Class: Administrative FTE: 1.0 FTE Salary Level: Administrative Salary Level 25 Starting Pay Range Hours per Week: 40 hr/wk Work Schedule: Typically 8:00am - 5:00pm Days of the Week: Typically Monday - Friday Job Summary/Purpose: The Information Security Specialist is responsible for assisting the Information Security Manager with the day-to-day operations of providing college-wide Information Security services. This position also supports other ITS teams in evaluating, configuring, and administering information security tools and applying best practices. The position is part of the ITS Information Security Team within the Central Oregon Community College ITS department. As such, this position will also participate in the research, development, and direct support of projects that enhance COCC's information security posture. The position is not a typical information technology job. A professional background in information technology is not required to be successful. Indeed, skills and experience in data analysis, systems improvement, business administration, or education are suitable if you are a self-starter, capable of grasping complex concepts, explaining them to end users, and committed to ongoing learning and relationship-building to achieve goals.

    • This is a 12-month exempt position at pay level 25 in the Administrative salary schedule.
    • In an effort to be as transparent as possible, please note that the starting wage/salary ranges listed in our position postings are based on a thorough analysis of COCC's pay equity, current budget, and specific employee group contracts. Thus, these ranges are fixed as noted in the posting and non-negotiable.       • Monitor InfoSec systems for risks, irregularities and potential threats, and coordinate with teams for mitigation.
      • Assist with establishing benchmarks, best practices, and provide recommendations to harden technology infrastructure.
      • Maintain InfoSec webpages with current information, including threats/campaigns. - InfoSec Coordination and Training Activitie
        • Create, deliver, and maintain information security education programs and training for COCC stakeholders.
        • Meet with Departments regularly to review their operations and discuss data hygiene, standards, and best practices.
        • Respond to critical problems with systems, security alerts and notifications, consulting with ITS teams, as appropriate. Marginal Job Functions

            • Strong interpersonal, customer service, and communication skills (both orally and in writing), and ability to work with a wide variety of people.
            • Ability to quickly gain solid technical and functional knowledge of a broad set of software applications.
            • Ability to identify process problems, analyze results and create solutions using appropriate resources.
            • Ability to design and deliver effective technical training, documentation, and presentations.
            • Ability to be a self-starter, work collaboratively and independently, be highly motivated and possess good judgment in identifying issues, stakeholders and priorities.
            • Ability to research, analyze, and interpret technical documentation and resources.

Physical Demands and Other Ergonomic Requirements: Working hours are typically 8AM to 5PM, Monday through Friday. Additional hours may include early and late hours with possible weekend work and coverage for emergencies during off hours. Work is performed in an office setting, mostly sitting with frequent computer use. All individuals are required to be able to perform the essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation. This position may be eligible for periodic remote work, but the primary duties are performed on premise.
