$13.50/hr, Non-Benefited Student Position Hours per Week: As
Identified in Award Letter Work Schedule: Per Schedule Days of the
Week: Per Schedule Job Summary/Purpose: Serve as the GIS Tutor for
GIS classes offered each term, often working in the Geographic
Information Systems lab (Ponderosa 221).Job Location is on the Bend
Campus.Terms of Employment:
- This is a part-time (
- Requires flexible work schedule, which may include evenings
and/or weekends as well as travel throughout the district when
needed.
- Must have been awarded and accepted Federal Work-Study for
2022-2023
- Must be meeting Satisfactory Academic Progress for financial
aid.
- COCC employees must work and reside in the state of Oregon at
the time their work is being performed.
- The College is NOT able to support Visa applications for this
position. Applicants must already be eligible to work in the United
States to be considered for this position.
- Upon hire, must pass criminal and/or driving history; only
information relevant to the position will be considered.
- Effective Monday, April 18, 2022, COCC implemented a COVID -19
vaccination requirement for all employees, including benefited
employees, part-time faculty, and temporary workers such as
irregular wage, work study and community education. Upon hire, new
employees will receive an email with instructions outlining how to
upload proof of full COVID -19 vaccination or request a medical or
religious exception.Essential Functions:
- The GIS Tutors duties will focus on offering technical
assistance with GIS assignments and labs that students complete in
a variety of GIS courses.
- Troubleshoot issues that arise, as well as provide guidance for
students having trouble getting started with assignments or
labs.
- Answer more general questions about file organization,
accessing web sites, access to GIS data, or other similar issues
that arise in the lab.
- Generally work in the GIS lab, but may also answer questions
for students working remotely. This may require the tutor to use
screen sharing software such as Zoom or discussing technical issues
via email or telephone with individual students. Remote support may
be especially critical during the Summer term when GIS courses are
offered online.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Individuals must
possess these knowledge, skills and abilities or be able to explain
and demonstrate that the individual can perform the duties and
responsibilities of the job, with or without reasonable
accommodation, using some other combination of skills and
abilities. The individual is expected to follow College work rules
and policies. Knowledge of and experience with filing and
organization Experience with and have good computer skills. Must
have good customer service skills. Ability to do different tasks
daily.Physical Demands and Other Ergonomic Requirements: Working
hours are regular, per the established work schedule. Work is
performed in an ordinary office, mostly sitting. While performing
the duties of this position, the employee is required to function
effectively indoors in an office environment engaged in work of
primarily a sedentary nature with the ability to sit or stand at
workstation for extended periods. The employee is regularly
required to sit, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects,
tools or controls, reach with hands and arms and requires near
visual acuity to write, read written materials and computer
screens, and sufficient hearing and speech ability for ordinary
telephonic conversations. Occasional lifting under ten pounds for
15 percent of the time. Computer screen is used more than 75
percent of the time. All individuals are required to be able to
perform the essential functions with or without reasonable
