The City of Madras Police Department is accepting applications for the position of certified Lateral Police Officer. Applicants must be no less than 21 years of age. The position also requires a high school diploma or equivalent (a two-year degree or vocational training in criminal justice, police science or related field is desirable). At least 2 years of continuous service exercising police powers at a city (municipal), county or state police agency responsible for 9-1-1 calls. The 2 years of service must be current, full-time, unbroken, and continuous with no more than a 2-year break in service. NOTE: Military police, Federal Law Enforcement, Corrections and Parole/Probation DO NOT QUALIFY as a Lateral Police Officer. Must have no disqualifying criminal history within the past seven years or any felony convictions and must complete a background investigation.
The annual salary range is $58,107 to $74,866 with attractive hiring/retention incentives and an excellent benefit package (see below). Incentive of 5% base pay if bilingual in Spanish. Compensation and Benefits: %5 additional pay for bilingual, 3, 4 and 5% Certification Pay, Longevity Pay 1-2%, 90% employer paid health insurance premium (includes vision and dental), generous annual employer paid HSA contributions, 1oo% employer paid PERS, 10 paid holidays, opportunities for over time and comp time, $250 (annual) employee wellness reimbursement program, $100 (annual) safety incentive program, comprehensive and responsive Employee Assistance Program (EAP), vacation accrual includes 40 hrs after 1 yr, 120 hrs after 2 yrs, 160 after 5 yrs, 200 hrs after 10 yrs, and an additional 8 hrs/each year after 15 yrs of service (max 240 hrs/yr).
