DEPARTMENTAL SUMMARY: The Home Health department provides regional, skilled, medical services to patients that are unable to leave their homes to access medical care. Services include skilled nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, medical social work, aide, and phlebotomy.

The Hospice Department provides end of life care services to patients and their families. Hospice addresses the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual needs of patient and family from admission through bereavement, utilizing an interdisciplinary approach to care that includes physicians, registered nurses, chaplains, aide's, social workers, volunteers and counselors.

POSITION OVERVIEW: The Account Representative performs all of the functions related to billing and obtaining full reimbursement for Hospice, Home Health and Lifeline accounts. This position does not directly manage any other caregivers


Work flow, reporting and tracking are managed through multiple designated work queues in the EHR system

Overall office operations and information systems operations.

Verifies Medicare eligibility.

Responsible for monitoring and working EPIC Billing WQ's to meet billing timelines.

Claims processing for accurate, timely submission.

Confirms claim and billing accuracy in multiple designated work queues and processes for payment.

Monitors and tracks Medicare ADR's and denials, notifying leadership of needed action within established timeframes.

Prepares and submits bi-weekly and month end statistical reports and denials within established timeframes.

Collection of accounts. Receives checks, prepares and posts payments, provides deposit and deposit information according to hospital work instruction.

Proactive in tracking and managing past due accounts in designated work queue, minimizing aging AR

Maintains awareness of account status and updates Director/Manager monthly.

Provides excellent customer service when responding to insurance and billing inquiries.

Monitors and pursues past due account, minimizing aging AR.

Lifeline: Responsible for checking Medicaid eligibility, billing and posting payments.

Supports the vision, mission and values of the organization in all respects.

May perform additional duties of similar complexity within the organization, as required or assigned.


Required: High school diploma or GED

Preferred: College courses with office or clerical background


Required: Valid Oregon driver's license and ability to meet St. Charles Health System driving requirements

Preferred: N/A


Required: Minimum two years in data processing, accounting or health care clerical work. Administrative and/or general medical office work with phone skills and computer experience. Thorough knowledge of medical terminology.

Preferred: Knowledge of Hospice/Home Health care and community resources.


Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required to perform the job safely.

Basic to intermediate ability and experience in computer applications, specifically electronic medical records system and MS Office.

Basic experience in computer applications necessary to record time, obtain work directions, and complete assigned CBL's.


Continually (75% or More): Use of clear and audible speaking voice and the ability to hear normal speech levels.

Frequently (51% - 75%): Standing, sitting, walking, lifting 1-10 lbs and keyboard operation.

Occasionally (26% - 50%): Bending, climbing stairs, reaching overhead, carrying 1-10 lbs, pushing/pulling 1-10 lbs and grasping/squeezing.
