OverviewThe Senior Network Specialist on the ISP Engineering-Shared Services (Microwave) team is a highly technical position responsible for the hardware and logical design, engineering, and cost estimations of network solutions for Network Services led construction projects. These projects are run to implement/augment the TDS core and transport networks as well as all shared infrastructure networks such as IPTV, VoIP, and WiFi. This position will also be responsible for the development of internal process, engineering standards, and the training and mentoring of staff on those processes and standards.TDS Telecom, headquartered in Madison, Wis., employs nearly 2,700 people and is a subsidiary of Telephone and Data Systems, Inc. Understands and follows established processes, and completes assigned work in accordance with established timelines and quality measures to Plan, Engineer, Implement, and Optimize TDSs combined Voice/Video/Data/WiFi network infrastructure This position will include engineering responsibility for ISP Engineering-Shared Services microwave radio network engineering projects. Extensive microwave knowledge and experience is highly valuable; including site acquisition and permitting, site engineering and construction methods, unlicensed and licensed spectrum, and FCC/FAA filing processes. This role is responsible for engineering all licensed and unlicensed microwave paths, specifying technical requirements, coordinating vendor resources and will work closely with Architecture and Technology Development resources to develop engineering use cases and validate the associated platform specific configurationsQualificationsRequired Qualifications Bachelor's degree (or higher) -OR- 4+ years' professional work experience 5+ years' experience in Voice/Data/Video networking Must have and maintain a valid drivers license, reliable transportation, and insuranceOther Qualifications Microwave Transport Technologies (Licensed/Unlicensed) Microwave site acquisition Governmental Filing Processes Strong knowledge of TCP/IP stack IP Routing (MPLS, OSPF, BGP, Multicast) Ethernet Switching LAN, Metro Ethernet, and Carrier Ethernet Optical Transport - xWDM/ROADM IP Video Acquisition and Delivery VoIP WiFi/Public WiFi design and engineering Network infrastructure hardware platforms Nokia Ericsson Mimosa Other Wireless Platforms Cisco Ciena Metaswitch Accedian Rad Adtran BenefitsAs a part of your total compensation, TDS provides a comprehensive competitive benefit package.
