DEPARTMENT SUMMARY: The Human Resources Department provides a variety of functional and system support services for all departments and campuses across the organization. At St. Charles we believe our strength is in our people. Human Resources is focused on supporting our PEOPLE strategy by delivering a robust foundation of services and specialized expertise including people and organizational development, talent acquisition, caregiver relations, labor relations, compensation, benefits and absence management, human resources information services, and on-boarding/off-boarding.

POSITION OVERVIEW: Partners with, and supports, the HR Business Partners and Leaders in their respective business unit, service line and/or support department to deliver end-to-end human resources programs. The focus is on administration, operations and execution of various HR programs, processes and initiatives. Since the HR team needs to be nimble, also works on various projects and may support various enterprise HR processes. Developing an effective level of business literacy about the business unit's financial position, midrange plans, culture and competition.

This position does not directly manage any other caregivers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:

Working closely with HR Business Providers, provides support in the functional areas of human resources including departmental development, HRIS, caregiver relations, caregiver commitment, talent acquisition, compensation and benefits administration, and organizational development. While performing assigned tasks, follows departmental policies and procedures, and complies with all relevant federal and state regulations.

May be responsible for specific caregiver programs or assignments such as:

  • Support of the roll-out of an HR initiative.
  • Arrange and conduct exit interviews to determine reasons behind separations; logs data accurately.
  • Student intern and co-op programs including processing of affiliation agreements and other requirements, arranging specific assignments, and determining orientation and schedules.
  • Responsible for initial review of all Ethics Points and Safety Alerts System tasks. Will partner with HR Business Partners for initial investigation and re-assignment if appropriate.
  • Coordinates and supports the St. Charles Cares Fund
  • Manages the arrears process for terminated Caregivers
  • May support with administrative needs at labor relations meetings, negotiations and other labor business.
  • May support managers with team building, talent development, workflow distribution and caregiver relations issues. For example, dealing with non-complex corrective actions/attendance issues.
  • May provide basic HR guidance based on knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of caregivers, reducing risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure all regulatory postings are current and posted in appropriate areas.
  • May compile data and/or conduct initial analysis in regard to trends, metrics related to HR solutions, programs and policies, especially related to training, workforce & succession planning.
  • Participates in various departmental special projects and functions.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; review professional publications; establish personal networks; participate in professional societies.
  • Perform other related duties as required and directed.

  • May perform additional duties of similar complexity within the organization, as required or assigned.

    EDUCATION

    Required: Bachelor's degree in human resources, business or relevant field or equivalent level of experience

    Preferred:

    LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION

    Required:

    Preferred: Professional HR Certification such as SHRM-CP - or PHR - or ability to obtain certification within one year of employment

    EXPERIENCE

    Required: At least 3 years of experience with multiple human resource disciplines, including benefits, compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, caregiver and union relations, diversity, performance management, and federal and state respective employment laws

    Working knowledge of MS Office

    An ability to multitask and perform under tight deadlines

    Strong verbal and written communication skills

    Competency in applying the principles, methods, materials and equipment necessary in providing service

    Preferred: Experience in health care

    PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT

    Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required to perform the job safely
