Job DescriptionSmarty Pits in Bend, OR is looking for one shipping/receiving assistant to join our 15 person strong team. We are located on 693 Se Glenwood Dr Ste 100. Our ideal candidate is self-driven, ambitious, and engaged.Position Title: Shipping/Receiving AssistantPosition Description The Shipping & Receiving Assistant works closely with management and other team leads to coordinate the preparation of SmartyPits products for shipment and the receipt of materials to meet production and sales targets. The Shipping & Receiving Assistant plans work schedules in the shipping and receiving team, tracks inventory and reorder points, trains new team members in standard operating procedures, and ensures quality and safety in handling received materials and SmartyPits products. Experience in a manufacturing operation is highly preferred.Scope: This is a full-time hourly wage position.Responsibilities

• Tracks shipping inventory and reorder points
• Develops/implements training materials for new employees and current employee retraining to ensure that all work practices are conducted safely and according to GMP
• Other related tasks, as assigned
• Provides oversight and direction to team in order to coordinate receipt of raw ingredients, manufacturing inputs, packaging and other materials and preparation ofSmartyPits products for shipment
  • Ensures that Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are followed, consistent withCosmetics Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
    • Leads shipping and receiving, following established SOPs and GMP guidelines, batch record completion, and quality control
    • Receives materials delivered to the SmartyPits facility, marks and logs into inventory according to company processes
    • Notifies management and materials supplier of any discrepancies discovered during receiving, including count, quality, or specification
    • Ensures that all outbound shipments are packaged and secured appropriately, delivered to customers in good condition, and labeled to customer specifications
    • Understands packaging and shipping requirements for both wholesale and retail shipping, including international customs if applicable
    • Creates labels for case-packs, cartons, shipping boxes, and pallets, according to customer specifications
    • Packages SmartyPits products into boxes, cartons, and/or pallets for shipment
    • Organizes and labels purchase orders according to buyer's requirements
    • Secures palletized materials to ensure safe transport on freight shipments
    • Schedules shipment pick-ups with freight companies, postal service, UPS/FedEx, as required
    • Functions as communications focal point for freight delivery and pickup
    • Records work in batch production logs and other required documentation
    • Directs work assignment adjustments in response to unplanned team member absences or other unanticipated changes in the planned work schedule
    • Develops new SOPs, as needed, to adapt to changes in best practices
    • Identifies warehouse safety concerns and advocates to management for safety mitigations (process changes, purchase of safety equipment, etc)Requirements:
      • Ability to meet company protocol for efficiency and quality assurance within the initial two week training period
      • Ability to operate a 3,500 lb forklift and pass basic operator certification (training can be provided)
      • Ability to use a computer for basic office applications, as well as special software/websites to generate shipping labels and schedule shipments
      • Ability to differentiate various labeling requirements and shipping guides, according to needs of the buyer
      • Ability to use a scale (training can be provided)
      • Ability to perform basic math skills
      • Good communications and organizational skills
      • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced team environment

      • Work location is on a warehouse production floor; employee will observe all safe work practices required by law and by SmartyPits - Handcrafted Honey Bee, LLC
      • Job involves standing for long portions of the day's work
      • Employee must be able to lift containers up to 50 pounds
      • Standard work hours will fall between the hours of 7 am and 3:30 pm, with breaks for lunch and mid- day rest periods
