Position Information Posting Number: 06001536 Position Title: Computer Lab Coordinator Posting Date: 06/18/2019 Closing Date: Open Until Filled (notes): For first consideration please submit your application by July 5, 2019 Length of Position: 12 months per year Anticipated Start Date: Position Type/Employee Class: Classified FTE: 1.0 FTE Salary Level: Classified Salary Level 18 Starting Minimum Pay: $18.86 plus exceptional benefits Starting Maximum Pay: $23.00 plus exceptional benefits Hours per Week: 40 hr/wk Work Schedule: 8:00am - 5:00pm Days of the Week: Monday - Friday Job Summary/Purpose: The Computer Lab Coordinator position is responsible for the overall coordination and management of COCC computer lab facilities. Essential functions of the position entail the supervision of computer lab attendants including hiring, training, and daily operations. This position is responsible for supporting instructional technology by assisting students and faculty with the utilization of educational software and hardware. The coordinator provides support to both lab attendants and students by answering technical questions and troubleshooting the broad variety of COCC software applications and multiple computer platforms, which are updated or changed regularly. The position is also responsible for assisting with and/or coordinating a wide range of ITS projects across all COCC campuses. Terms of Employment: --- This is a full-time (1.0FTE, 40hr week) 12-month non-exempt position at grade level 18 in the Classified Appendix schedule. --- Requires flexible work schedule, which may include evenings and/or weekends as well as travel throughout the district when needed. --- Requires the provision of official transcripts upon hire. --- Upon hire, must pass criminal and/or driving history; only information relevant to the position will be considered. Essential Functions: Management of Lab and Lab Attendants ---Supervise Computer Lab personnel on the COCC Bend and Redmond campuses, including assisting with the hiring process, prioritizing and assigning work, and monitoring compliance with applicable policies and procedures. ---Conduct regular staff technology trainings. ---Manage daily operations in COCC Computer labs. ---Prepare and maintain documentation for use by customers of the computer lab. ---Assist with developing support, maintenance protocols, and technical training for instructional faculty. ---Create and generate data reports to track lab usage and create ad hoc reports as requested. ---Prepare, participate and/or collaborate with other campus staff to offer student technology trainings. ---Maintain lab operations, including GoPrint systems, within budgetary guidelines. Technical End User Support Services ---Assist the ITS End User Support (EUS) and Engineering (ENG) teams to investigate, assess, and resolve a wide range of technical end-user support issues in Computer Lab spaces, including but not limited to, printer, projector and PC repairs and technical support. ---Troubleshoot technical problems reported by end users, submit helpdesk tickets, and work from ITS helpdesk queue as assigned. ---Obtain and maintain professional certifications as appropriate for technology adopted by COCC. ---Provide professional level customer service to the campus community including: a) customer advocacy; b) end user training on software, technical, and multimedia systems; and c) end user account access and technical support. Project Management ---Provide technical leadership in the coordination and planning of the New Student Advising technical process which includes event set-up, staff assignments, document preparation, problem-solving and responding to a broad assortment of student issues. ---Assist student services staff in the development and planning of technology curriculum for Bobcat Orientation and other student-facing technology events. Serve as the primary contact for student account issues, computer classroom setup, and coordination of Computer Lab employees for events. ---Assist with annual computer life-cycle replacement, annual computer inventory sale and various ITS related projects. ---Manage "GoPrint" (pay for printing) system. This includes managing cash reconciliation for four computer labs and documentation of use as well as printing in instructional areas. Marketing ---Develop marketing campaigns and vendor relationships to inform campus community of computer lab services. ---Manage promotional activities and events for the computer labs, which serve faculty, staff, students and community patrons. ---Prepare statistical data of lab usage for budgetary considerations and monitoring of performance. Website Management ---Maintain the COCC Student Computing website and the Office 365 Computer Lab site. ---Assist with maintaining the Information Technology website and Computer Lab pages. ---Coordinate and manage the Centralized Student Tech Support helpline and Feedback365 email account. ---Develop and maintain curriculum for Computer Lab Blackboard courses. ---Maintain mobile-friendly website design for use by students, faculty, and the community. General Duties ---Respond to and resolve a variety of technical and non-technical questions or direct to the appropriate person for resolution. ---Act as a resource for other campus staff as needed. ---Use scheduling tools to assist with computer classroom activities. ---Assist faculty and students with troubleshooting minor hardware and software problems. ---Participate in college activities when geared towards student technology such as new student orientation. ---Follow campus policy working with the appropriate campus staff when incidents occur with employees and/or lab users. ---Serve on College committees. ---Perform other essential duties as they pertain to the overall objective of the position, as assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Individuals must possess these knowledge, skills and abilities or demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities. The incumbent is expected to follow College work rules and policies. 1.Must be able to effectively oversee staff, work as a positive team member to motivate and train, solve problems and achieve goals; establish working relationships with staff. 2.Must be self-motivated and able to self-direct and work independently on a daily basis on tasks that require good judgement, analytical thinking and attention to detail. 3.Must be able to identify and resolve Tier 1 hardware or software related technical issues. This includes basic PC, printer, classroom and lab troubleshooting. 4.Must be able to understand and develop documentation for common software applications used by students, staff, and faculty. 5.Must be able to deal with demanding, sometimes frustrated faculty and students as well as heavy phone and walk-in traffic. 6.Ability to effectively communicate with and help to de-escalate persons who may be in an agitated state. 7.Must be able to answer numerous email support questions from students and staff, throughout the day. 8.Must be able to learn and use ITS helpdesk ticket system 9.Must be able to learn and use software to perform job duties. Examples include: Banner for purchasing, budgets, and account verifications; scheduling software; HR hiring/recruiting software; software reporting tools. 10.Must be able to maintain operations for multiple drop-in computer labs and computer classrooms. 11.Must be able to coordinate nonflexible schedules of staff working seven days a week in multiple locations. 12.Able to assess and troubleshoot when a student cannot log onto the COCC network or software application, must be able to determine the reason and appropriate course of action, i.e. student account set-up, correct log-in, server setting changes, or network functioning. 13.Must be able to use a computer (all windows platforms) and other technology-related devices. 14.Ability to work cooperatively with and contribute to a diverse workplace through ideas or experience. 15.Exhibit a professional demeanor and have excellent oral and written communication and organizational skills. 16.Ability to collect, organize, analyze and interpret data. 17.Able to prioritize work, meet deadlines and work under pressure; adapt and apply new work procedures to variety of new systems and circumstances. Physical Demands and Other Ergonomic Requirements: Working hours are generally regular per the established work schedule. Some schedule flexibility may be required due to the nature of IT functions, as work may occasionally occur after typical hours. Computer screen is used more than 75 percent of the time. The employee is regularly required use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms and requires near visual acuity to write, read written materials and computer screens, and sufficient hearing and speech ability for ordinary telephonic conversations. Physical movements involve guiding, feeding materials into proper position. Able to climb or pull self upward, kneel, stoop, crawl, crouch, and guide, feeding materials into proper position. Lifting objects vary daily, ranging up to 20lbs. Exposure to safety hazards is encountered one percent of the time. All individuals are required to be able to perform the essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
