Desert Orthopedics - West Bend, of Praxis Health, is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Certified Surgical First Assistant to join our growing team on a PRN basis. -The Surgical First Assistant is responsible for identifying and securing instrumentation and equipment needed for procedures and demonstrating proficient use and implementation of the same. -We are excited to share with you a short video that shows why the Praxis Health family is so special. • Performs pre-operative procedures such as selection and placement of surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment.
• Assists surgeon and designated assistants in procedures, passing instruments and supplies and anticipating the needs of the surgical team.
• During the surgical procedure provides instruments, sutures, and other sterile supplies.
• Helps prepare, care for, and dispose of specimens taken for laboratory analysis and helps apply dressings.
• Applies basic knowledge of anatomy & physiology, medical terminology and microbiology.
• Applies knowledge related to emergency situations and surgical procedures in the operating room.
• Maintains a safe work environment.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  Qualifications:
  • Education: Certificate or Degree from a Surgical Technology Program
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is required.
  • Licenses/Certifications: Certified as a Surgical Technologist (CST) by National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).

    Must be able to keep your hand and arm steady for extended periods of time when needed.
    Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.
    Good visual acuity, accurate color vision.
    Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch and/or crawl.
    Ability to reach, grasp, use fine finger movement and feel fine sensation to discern temperature, texture, size and shape.This position performs tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids and/or tissues
