This position is the primary back up trainer for Beacon (oncology) and Ambulatory Epic training. The selected candidate will also help support our superuser program with planning events and working with connect partners. May involve some travel.

This encompasses not only formal training in a classroom setting, but informal learning that occurs through rounding and supporting our front-end caregivers. The training team is under the information services umbrella, which partners with our customers to leverage various technologies to achieve the best patient outcomes possible by implementing new hardware and software solutions, upgrading existing environments, protecting the data we store, and integrating different solutions to achieve a seamless experience.POSITION OVERVIEW: The System Training Specialist RN will create an exciting, modern, and comprehensive system training program(s) for all caregivers and providers at St. Charles with a focus on training other nurses. Utilizing their clinical experience, this role will ensure training content has been built and reviewed from a nursing workflow perspective and includes onboarding, closing performance gaps, and training for system enhancements or upgrades. The System Training Specialist RN will work collaboratively with a team of application analysts to ensure our training environment is up to date and set the stage for optimal system performance. They will also be responsible for, interacting with caregivers and providers in a professional manner while providing high level customer service while rounding with teams and super users. This position does not directly manage any other caregivers.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:Responsible for coordination, presentation, and evaluation of EHR training and other technical training for new hires and existing caregivers in on-site training courses, workshops, or webinars. Concentrates on areas within the system that require clinical background and focus attention toward support in those areas. For example, Nurses will support nursing workflows within the inpatient and outpatient settings.Develops technical training curriculum and learning materials. Enhances material to employ adult learning techniques to ensure maximum knowledge retention. Reviews the training curriculum of non-clinical trainers, ensuring accuracy and appropriateness for clinical use. Dissects workflows from the clinical perspective, ensuring they are complete, intuitive, and usable based on the responsibilities of the caregivers performing the workflow.Modifies training lessons and creates ad-hoc lessons based on feedback from metrics, training evaluations, and identified needs from Clinical Informatics, domain groups, and department visits. Analyzes data and implements continuous improvement and optimization solutions.Evaluates and tests clinical workflows, utilizing the clinical knowledge and expertise of the intricacies within the workflow and utilizing technology to alleviate user error and provide efficiencies whenever possible.Rounds regularly to observe system use and offers appropriate one-on-one and group support for effective use of the EHR and other systems. Provides direct feedback on system usage with tips and tricks to improve efficiency and establishes relationships.Maintains training matrix and monitors training completion status for all caregivers and providers. Works with the organizational development team to maintain accurate documentation and class schedules in the Learning Management System.Troubleshoots assigned front-line support calls from end-users, seeks resolution, and escalates the issue to the system analyst if needed. Addresses clinical training issues arising from all applications, including the Safety reporting system (SAS).Partners with the Clinical Practice and Professional Development team to create a seamless training program where clinical and application workflows intersect. Minimum of Associates degree in Nursing.Preferred: Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing.LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATIONRequired: Valid Registered Nurse Licensure in the state of Oregon. Must pass Epic credentialing panel and gain curriculum certification in specified application within 3 months of hire. Valid Oregon driver's license and the ability to travel to all St. Charles Health System worksites required.Preferred: Epic application/curriculum certification in current version used by organization (such examples may include ASAP, ClinDoc, Ambulatory, Willow, Cupid, Beaker, Orders, Beacon, OpTime).EXPERIENCERequired: One (1) year working as a registered nurse in clinical setting.
