COMPENSATION $32.00 -$48.50 DOE SCHEDULE Casual (PRN) various days, nights and weekends, schedule subject to change. You may be called upon to flex your hours (up or down) to meet the needs of the business. Additionally, you may be required to assist in providing on-call coverage 1-2 days a month to patients/families when necessary, and as assigned by the Supervisor. Job Summary/Objective Identifies patient/family/caregiver needs and provides nursing and supportive care in accordance with the plan of care, and policies and procedures by performing the following duties: Essential Functions: Applies nursing principles and techniques in the treatment of patients. Provides nursing care, emotional support, and education to the patient/family/ caregiver. Is responsible for the implementation and continued development of the patient care plan and physician's plan of treatment. Is responsible for the case management of the patient, including supervision of all Certified Nursing Assistants and Volunteers. Follows the guidelines for universal precautions when providing patient care and demonstrates proper techniques in application of infection control standards. Maintains records of services performed and of apparent condition of patient, using documentation guidelines and standards set forth by the Facility. Communicates with physicians and others as needed to coordinate and ensure high quality care. Communicates on a regular basis with all staff / volunteers regarding patient status. Attends and participates in shift report, team meetings, briefings, in-services, department and staff meetings and other related activities. Understands and adheres to our Mission, Core values, policies and procedures, and advocates its philosophy. Works effectively in an interdisciplinary team environment. Demonstrates a positive attitude and working relationship with staff members and others. Carries out duties and responsibilities of position in a manner that exemplifies excellent customer service. Consistently represents the Facility to all internal and external customers with integrity and professionalism. Demonstrates a working knowledge of the dying process. Demonstrates excellent listening skills. Recognizes the importance of and maintains professional boundaries. Answers telephone within three rings, identifies department and self, directs calls to appropriate person, or assists caller. Takes messages, documenting the time, name of caller, phone number, and message, when applicable. Answers patient's call bell within three rings. Maintains strict confidentiality of patient, family and caregiver information. Provides for a safe environment for patients, guests, visitors, and employees. Adheres to all policies, procedures, and regulations regarding patient care, conduct, safety, fire, security, and risk management. Adheres to the PIC mission and values. Supports the organization. Position Qualifications Educational requirements include graduate of an accredited school of nursing with current license to practice professional nursing in the State of Oregon. One to two years of recent medical/surgical care experience in an institutional setting. Ideal candidates will possess 1-2 years of hospice care experience.
