Job Type Permanent Salary Details Competitive and DOE Non-Profit Wildlife Rehabilitation Center Hiring New Team Member. This is a unique and exciting opportunity to help establish a regional wildlife hospital and rehabilitation center in Central Oregon. Think Wild is a (501)(c)(3) wildlife rehabilitation facility situated on four acres located two miles east of Bend, which is rated by USA Today as one of the most livable cities in the country. ******************* Our master plan is to be a full-service wildlife facility in five years, offering the rehabilitation and release of orphaned and injured native species - with an estimated intake/volume of 1,200 animals when at full-capacity. You would operate from an all new 1,500 square foot Wildlife Hospital facility. Responsibilities throughout the year will include: Wildlife Rehabilitation - Assess, treat, rehabilitate, and release injured and orphaned native wildlife. - Provide daily care, housing, and feeding of on-site wildlife. - Pick-up and transport injured or orphaned wildlife. - Upkeep and clean facilities, grounds, and equipment. Support planning and project management of facility construction. - Establish and document treatment protocols. - Maintain animal care records in compliance with agency requirements. - Collect photo and video documentation of wildlife while under care and during release. - Manage ordering and inventory processes for medical supplies. - Coordinate animal care and transport with local veterinarians, rehabilitators and volunteers. - Staff Wildlife Hotline. - Train, schedule, and supervise volunteers. Potential for additional supervisory responsibilities depending on organization growth and need. Educational and Conservation Programming - Collaborate with Executive Director to determine overall educational program goals and objectives and support as needed with the development and delivery of educational programs. - Assist Executive with identifying new program opportunities including event or class locations. - Deliver course content under the direction of the Executive Director. Community Outreach - Collaborate with Executive Director to manage social media communications; prepare and present information to promote public awareness, understanding and acceptance of the organization's programs, activities, and objectives. Collaborate with partners to develop timely content. - Assist Executive Director to design, write, edit, and produce newsletter. - Assist Executive Director to design, write, edit, and publish updates to the website. - Collaborate with Executive Director to research and prepare background studies, special reports, press releases and organization position papers. Respond to written or telephone inquiries about organization activities. Cooperate with other stakeholders on common or shared projects. Fund Raising - Assist Executive Director with projects within the fund raising program developed by the Board and/or consultant including events, written appeals, and/or other campaigns. - Contribute to grant-writing efforts. Research and identify opportunities. Assist with writing grant applications. - Work with Executive Director to cultivate business and corporate sponsorships. - Other Duties as Assigned 5%, may include but are not limited to: - Develop organizational policies and procedures. - Assist with budgeting, expense tracking, and general administrative functions. - Assist with managing construction projects, such as scheduling or communicating with contractors. Minimum Qualifications - Two years of wildlife rehabilitation experience and at least one year of experience managing staff, volunteers or interns - Ability to obtain ODFW and USFWS wildlife permits and an Oregon driver's license within thirty days of hire - Must be able to work a flexible schedule to accommodate influx of animals during certain spring and summer while assisting with other duties relating to fundraising, outreach and communications in the fall and winter. - Ability to maintain a professional and respectful demeanor at all times and provide training and guidance to volunteers and interns. - Ability to effectively and independently manage a wide array of tasks, projects and responsibilities related to the intake, assessment, and ongoing care of a diverse array of animal species native to Oregon. - Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing. Customer service skills are essential for intake and interactions with the public and volunteers as well as the ability to work with diverse people and groups. Preferred Qualifications - Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) from a four-year college in biology, ecology, or a related field or university or an Associate's Degree in a related field. Relevant and direct experience will be considered in lieu of a degree. - Five years or more years of wildlife rehabilitation experience, particularly in native Oregon and/or high desert species - Knowledge of Pacific Northwest ecology and conservation issues, specifically related to Central Oregon - Certified Wildlife Rehabilitator, Certified Veterinary Technician or Certified Veterinary Practice Manager qualifications - Experience managing one or more social media accounts (personal or professional) Position is exempt full-time, and salary is competitive and based on experience.
