Pay range: $64.63 - $100.18
*Eligible for Sign-On and Retention Bonus - $20,000*
This position is eligible for a combined sign on and retention
bonus in the amount of $20,000*, based on experience. To qualify
for the bonus, candidates must not have been employed by St.
Charles Health System in the last 6 months.
Also eligible for in-state or out of state relocation bonus, amount
based on location.

DEPARTMENT SUMMARY: Medical Services provides 24/7 specialized care
to patients throughout their hospitalization and discharge.
POSITION OVERVIEW: The Nurse Manager-Medical Services manages the
delivery of professional nursing services for assigned units. This
position is responsible for the overall planning, budgeting,
staffing, performance, and operation of the department in
conjunction with the director as well as performance and annual
review of direct reports. This position will directly supervise
assigned caregivers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:
Oversee the operations of assigned department to ensure smooth and
efficient department operations and that resources are available in
the assigned units 24/7. Collaborates with caregivers, medical
staff and system leaders to facilitate provision of patient care.
Ensures adequate departmental staffing to provide safe patient care
through review of appropriate data, development and maintenance of
master schedules.
Acts as the department liaison to other hospital departments and
outside entities.
Responsible for resource management ensuring appropriate and
sufficient equipment and supplies are available. Manages staffing
and scheduling (control of master schedule; ETO & LOA approval;
light duty scheduling) - delegates related clerical functions to
admin assistant and/or other applicable staff
Serves as a real-time resource and assists with clinical expertise
for staff with problem-solving on patient care, processes, and
family issues. Serves as representative for all customers.
Maintains ongoing communication with caregivers, medical staff and
system leadership to ensure needs are being met for caregivers and
patients. Communicates (both written and orally) effectively and
maintains professional relationships with caregivers, medical
staff, patients, guests and other hospital departments
Role models two-way communication of the St. Charles Health System
mission, vision, values, and strategic plan for the department
(staff meetings, rounds, tier huddle, etc.)
Coordinates quality initiatives and process improvements. Aligns
and manages to St. Charles Health System metrics and quality
initiatives. Oversees trending of quality and financial indicators
including LOS with case manager support.
Facilitates department meetings and shared governance/leadership
efforts.
Responsible for budget development, regular monitoring,
accountability and meeting all operational targets for all areas
within span of control. Manages operations within the budget.
Provides productivity oversight and review. Works with leadership
to achieve productivity standards. Develops and implements annual
plan including goals for unit with Director and Assistant Nurse
Managers. Controls and maintains position control including the
addition and deletion of positions related to budget and human
resource needs.
Hires, directs, coaches and monitors the performance of all direct
reports, to develop and maintain a high performance team that meets
organizational and department goals. Responsible for performance
and annual review of all department direct reports. Complies with
Human Resource processes and controls.
Monitors and ensure all department direct reports are current with
compliance and safety requirements. Implements and manages all
organizational safety directives and goals
Provides and oversees team's delivery of customer service in a
manner that promotes goodwill, is timely, efficient and
accurate
Responsible for quality, safety, customer service and regulatory
compliance oversight: EMS - Receipt, assignment, tracking and
trending, delegation.
Participates in creating a healing environment that supports all
aspects of the care environment and the wholeness of each
individual, patient and caregiver. Participates in creating
intentional relationships and demonstrates focus attitudes and
behaviors that enhance the care experience.
Oversees caregiver documentation for patient care to ensure
proficiency in compliance with hospital policies and regulatory
agencies
Directs, oversees and provides for leadership development of
staff.
Facilitate the growth and development of a culturally competent
team in the provision of appropriate care to patients and family
members who belong to diverse cultural backgrounds.
Creates a healing environment that supports all aspects of care,

EDUCATION
Required: Graduate of an accredited school of nursingBSN or
Bachelor's Degree in a related field. .
Preferred: MSN or Master's degree in related field
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION
Required: Current licensure with the Oregon State Board of
Nursing
AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider certification
Preferred: N/A
EXPERIENCE
Required: 5 years nursing experience, 1 year nursing leadership
experience.
Preferred: Experience in a specialty area of nursing
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT
Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment
(PPE) required to perform the job safely.
