We enjoy a renowned quality of life, with big-city opportunities and small-town neighborhoods.We hope youll consider joining our talented team.ABOUT THE JOB:The Medical Director job at DCBH is a dynamic dual role of specialty clinical care and clinical leadership at an agency serving Central Oregonians with mental illness and substance use disorders. With 50% protected time to provide direct clinical services with psychiatric specialty teams, this is an opportunity for a community psychiatrist to remain directly engaged in clinical work. The other 50% of the time this position is able to provide clinical leadership for the organization, including opportunities to provide consultation and supervision to teams, design and conduct clinical trainings, facilitate multidisciplinary case reviews to constructively learn from adverse outcomes, and engage with state and community partners with an opportunity to advocate for better systems of care.This position is located in Deschutes County and may be eligible for hybrid/in-office remote work as allowed by policy and approved by the supervisor.Key Responsibilities:
    • Help lead a multi-disciplinary clinical team in providing collaborative and specialty care to persons with mental illness and substance use disorders. There are a variety of teams where opportunities may be available including: ACT, forensic specialty team, geriatric team, first-episode psychosis and other specialty teams for young persons, crisis assessment, etc.
    • Work closely with the Behavioral Health director as the primary clinical leader for the organization. This may include designing trainings for therapists and clinical providers, leading case reviews, working with supervisors to increase quality of evidence-based care, developing integrated care with primary care providers, etc. The medical director has significant freedom to choose which areas of clinical development within the organization would be most useful to pursue.
    • Have a role, if desired, to advocate for improved systems of care. This may include serving on committees at the state level (with the Oregon Health Administration), working with local partners including St. Charles Hospital System and primary care organizations, or pursuing academic interests with institutions such as Oregon Health Sciences University.
    • Provide, along with the medical team supervisor, direct leadership to the medical team which consists of a mixture of approximately 7 psychiatrists and nurse practitioners, as well as approximately 9 psychiatric nurses.What You Will Bring: Knowledge of or experience with:

          • Doctor of Medicine;
          • And 5 years of experience as a practicing Psychiatrist Preferred Qualifications:
            • Relevant history in leadership within community mental health programs.
