*Redmond Shelter Case Manager*Shepherd's House Ministries Job DescriptionUnder the supervision of the *Director of Emergency Services ("DOES") and the Redmond City Director, **the Redmond Shelter Case Manager* will proactively nurture, maintain and monitor the safe and healing environment of our Community as a place where the grace, truth and love of Jesus Christ flow freely, and the hearts and lives of people are transformed.As a ministry of the Shepherd's House, the Emergency Services Team provides a safe and healing environment for those in need of safe, overnight shelter and basic services, in order to protect the physical body and heal the spirit of trauma and indignity from longer term afflictions. We are a community-supported ministry that seeks to engage Bend and Redmond communities, churches, organizations and volunteers.Personal/Character Attributes* Build trusting relationships with guests, residents, staff and volunteers by living openly, honestly and authentically.* In all relationships and activities, demonstrate a willingness to avoid conformity, inauthenticity and judgment.* Invest in and empower co-workers, volunteers and guests through trusting, loving relationships* Personally live out what it means to:* Live fully in our identity as children of God* Mature in our walk by trusting God and others in all areas of our lives* Live in relationships of protective love with residents, volunteers and staff* Engage in the self-evaluation process, communicating personal weaknesses, fears, and faults and evaluating on successes, opportunities, life changes and decisions* Readiness to be attentive to and caring for the needs of shelter guests, based on services provided.* Ability to lead and collaborate with colleagues, volunteers, donors, and others.Qualifications:* Two (2) years of direct service experience, including case management services to vulnerable populations, advocacy for low-income populations (or related), experience working with and an understanding of culturally diverse groups.* Preference for applicants with experience in management of a low-barrier shelter.* Ability to exercise sound, independent judgment, to maintain a high level of confidentiality, to respond effectively to emergency and crisis situations and resolve problems.* Dependable and flexible for highly autonomous work as well as work in team settings.* Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.* Analytical capability, ability to work effectively with data and identify trends, draw on history and recognize what has worked and what has not.* Valid Oregon driver's license and qualified to drive SHM insured vehicles.Areas of ResponsibilityThe Shelter Case Manager will work under the supervision of, and in collaboration with the Director of Emergency Services and the Redmond City Director to fullfill the overall function of the Redmond Winter Shelter, and later the Redmond Campus (under construction). The goal of case management is to guide individuals and families toward health services, permanent housing, and public and private benefits and rehabilitation. Toward this overall goal, the Shelter Case Manager will be expected to fill the following duties and responsibilities:* Shelter management and care of guests: provide a safe, warm and welcoming shelter environment.* Care and sustaining of shelter facilities:* Where SHM does not own the location, the safety, security and maintenance of the facility to the satisfaction of the host church or other building owner; and* A healthy and spiritually fulfilling atmosphere among guests, staff, volunteers, and other community participants* Community/volunteer engagement:* Partner with staff team to build spiritual, emotional and financial support among community citizens, churches, public and private agencies and businesses; engage and effectively utilize volunteers; grow volunteer base.* Guide and assist volunteers as they establish and grow their relationship to the shelter, our clients, and staff team.* Case management:* Engage with shelter guests to learn their story and create an action plan specific to their needs including but not limited to financial, vocational, educational or physical or behavioral health care services, detox or rehab programs, social services, birth certificates, EBT benefits, job skills development, employment support, trauma-informed peer to peer counseling, pet care, and overcoming barriers to permanent and supportive housing.* Prepare and manage client case files.* Guide and assist clients in the pursuit of health, stability, and recovery, by helping them establish and navigate relationships with service providers and community partners.* Engage with service providers to monitor progress, identify potential gaps in service and how to overcome apparent obstacles, collaborate on pathways to healing and habilitation and coordinate delivery of service and logistics with our clients.* Collaborate with Shelter team, service providers, and volunteers to identify and pursue new and creative ways to address "chronic houselessness" in Redmond.* Staffing: Participate in planning for and hiring of needed staff; provide guidance, training and supervision as practically needed to meet the goals of shelter operations.* Equipment and supplies: Take the lead, with proper consultation and assistance in identifying and obtaining the physical necessities, tools and supplies for the shelters.* Data: Record and report information pertaining to but not limited to shelter occupancy, participations connections, transitions, and exits.* Participate in Staff Meetings as guided by leadership.* Engage in neighbor relations to promote a positive standing of the shelter.* Attend to other supervisory and leadership responsibilities as necessary.* Fulfill all other relevant duties, tasks, and responsibilities communicated by the Director of Emergency Services, Redmond City Director, or other SHM leadership.Job Type: Full-timePay: $45,000.00 - $55,000.00 per yearBenefits:* 401(k)* 401(k) matching* Dental insurance* Flexible spending account* Life insurance* Paid time off* Vision insuranceSchedule:* 8 hour shift* Monday to Friday
