Director of Risk Management - Bend, Oregon BestCare Treatment Services in Bend, Oregon is recruiting for a Director of Risk Management! This is a Full-Time Regular position that includes a competitive benefits package, FOUR WEEKS of paid time off, NINE recognized holidays, and a retirement account option. Starting Salary for this position is $80,000 - $100,000/year DOE. BestCare Treatment Services is proud to be one of the longest-term providers of alcohol & drug rehabilitation and mental health services in the Central Oregon region. We got our start in November of 1997, thanks to a partnership between Deschutes County, State of Oregon, St. Charles Medical Center and the Central Oregon District Hospital. From a modest, singular drug rehab center, we have grown to offering residential and outpatient services in four cities in addition to the only Spanish-speaking alcohol and drug rehab facility in the state. For a video tour of Redmond and Bend, take a look at these videos: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mv0HH_emATc Title:--Director of Risk Management Program:--BestCare Treatment Services Administration Employment Status:--Full-Time Regular Reports to:--Chief Executive Officer, Medical Director Employees Supervised:--None __________________________________________________________________________________ Program Overview:--Under the direction of the Chief Executive Officer, the Director of Risk Management is responsible for directing and overseeing all privacy, compliance, and risk management processes and initiatives for all BestCare locations including active involvement in reporting data and project-based work as directed. The Director of Risk Management is the primary resource for BestCare's compliance program to further our mission of keeping our client and employee information safe and our programs compliant with regulatory standards. Job Relationships:

  • Reports to:--Chief Executive Officer and Medical Director
  • Language:--Bi-Lingual Spanish/English strongly preferred
  • Master's in Healthcare Administration (MHA), Master's in Business Administration (MBA) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required - Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred. Current RN licensure in Oregon required for RN education credentials.
  • Previous experience in facility quality improvement and/or risk management, familiarity with OSHA, CMS, DEA, and OHS regulations
  • CCEP (Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional) or CRCMP (Certified Risk and Compliance Management Professional), Certification preferred
  • Proven knowledge and abilities with corporate compliance, and privacy concerns
  • Proven success with developing and implementing corporate compliance programs
  • Proven knowledge in data analysis and use of Excel spreadsheets
  • Compassion towards individuals with mental illness and substance abuse disorders
  • Experience working with diverse communities preferred
  • Leadership experience strongly preferred Special Qualifications:

    • Demonstrated knowledge of MS Windows environment, spreadsheet programs and other technology tools
    • Demonstrated ability to assess and communicate regulatory environment changes in a manner that creates an understanding with stakeholders - internally and externally
    • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality of data and information
    • Proven ability to resolve sensitive business issues/problems
    • Ability to function effectively and support a team environment including via remote work due to COVID-19 or other required situations Communication Skills:
      Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos. Ability to prepare and edit business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information to others, including other employees, Trustees, external partners, consultants and vendors. Mathematical Skills:
      Ability to perform simple mathematical operations and understand budgets. Reasoning Ability:
      Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exits. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Essential functions:
      • Develops and maintains a corporate compliance program based on applicable regulation, company policy and the requirements of BestCare
      • Maintains a working knowledge of relevant issues, laws and regulations, including DEA/controlled substance regulations that have current or potential impacts on operations, policies and corporate goals
      • Monitors adherence to the BCTS Risk Management and Diversion Control Plans, reviews annually, ensures necessary follow-up corrective actions when needed
      • Performs detailed analysis and interpretation of newly enacted laws and regulations to determine impacts to organization and prepare recommendations for corporate action
      • Develops corporate compliance policies related to federal and state laws and regulations
      • Investigates and responds appropriately to all known or suspected violations of the corporate compliance program, including incidents involving privacy and security of personal identifying and/or health information
      • Provide for defense of complaints for accrediting bodies, regulatory agencies, and MCOs, including but not limited to CARF, OHA, and OTIS
      • Maintains reporting channels and follows through on investigations for subscribers, providers, staff and others to report potential violations of the compliance program without fear of retaliation
      • Monitors and reports on BestCare's compliance activity as are required to comply with the relevant requirements of the Board of Directors and the DDPA Membership Standards and Guidelines
      • Develops and supports all related educational and training materials and programs that focus on the elements of the compliance program and ensures that all employees are knowledgeable and comply with pertinent federal and state regulatory standards
      • Functions as BestCare's Privacy Officer in support of HIPAA and 42 CRF requirements, and to implement corporate compliance program and adopted policies
      • Works with the Administration Program Directors and IT personnel related to Information Security to ensure the smooth conduct of Privacy and Security audits throughout the company
      • Identify, assess, and prioritize facilities in the areas of risk, assist in survey preparedness, clinical programming and assist with DEA and OSHA inspections
      • Monitor the timely submission and trending of required reporting to Corporate Compliance
      • Complete onsite visits to assigned facilities to assist with survey preparation and follow-up, complete standardized Compliance audit, assist with review and development of Policies for client care, and ensure Quality Meetings/Committees are occurring as required
      • Exhibits awareness/understanding of ethical principles consistent with the mission and values of the organization.
