Job Description

Peterson Cat has an immediate need for an experienced Field Lube Technician based at our Redmond, OR location.

SUMMARY

Performs preventative maintenance to machines and components in the field used in heavy equipment industry customers. Performs light mechanical repairs and/or diagnostic work on heavy equipment as needed.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

* Maintain a safe working environment and observe all safety procedures, laws, policies, and rules.


* Communicate with internal and external customers in a manner that promotes a positive relationship. Troubleshoot, diagnose with Cat tooling, and perform minor on chassis repairs on heavy equipment and components in the field.


* Perform machine computer updates, Safety updates, diagnostics, general and electrical troubleshooting.


* Be a mentor/trainer for entry level Lube Express Field Technicians.


* Perform preventative maintenance on heavy equipment including changing oil and filters, service greasing, and light mechanical work.


* Perform lubrication services including checking and filling fluid levels to O.E.M. specifications and refueling as requested and supplied by customer.


* Follow manufacturer and company service guidelines and procedures.


* Inspect equipment for external signs of potential component failure to include TA1 and TA2 level inspections.


* Will be performing diagnostics and installation of Caterpillar Product Link modules.


* Maintain service readiness of field lube truck including customer service fluid supplies.


* Operate overhead cranes, hoists, power tools and other shop equipment in a safe manner.


* Complete service reports, machine inspections, lube reports, timecards, and other related paperwork for all worked performed.


* Provide required tools as designated by company tool list.


* Maintain an acceptable driving record, adhering to all DOT requirements including keeping accurate logbooks, service hours and other records as required.


* Attend all training classes and profit center meetings as scheduled.


* Keep service truck clean and in good repair including inside of cab and back of truck.


* Keep service truck stocked with common parts needed to complete services.


* Complete DOT and mileage reports.


* Operate company or personal vehicle as needed.


* Maintain punctual, regular and predictable attendance.



QUALIFICATIONS

Associates Degree from a fully accredited college or technical/vocational school in Diesel Technology or other closely related field; and a minimum of 5 years of directly related experience in preventative maintenance and service repair of heavy equipment, preferably in a heavy industrial environment; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience. Must be able to obtain a Class B Commercial Driver's License.
