Description:The Property Accountant is responsible for performing ongoing accounting operations. As a member of the Finance Team, the Property Accountant will maintain financial records and computer databases, provide essential financial information to the management staff, partners and ownersThe Property Accountant will play an essential role in creating, implementing and maintaining the accounting policies, procedures and software systems related to the real estate and property management portfolios The Property Accountant is responsible for the accurate and timely tracking of financial information related to the performance of their assigned portfolio. This oversight will include Cash Management, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and the General Ledger for each assigned property. Responsibilities will include the production of a variety of financial reports on a weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual basis.Essential Functions:Monitor monthly bank deposits.Prepare and balance monthly bank reconciliations.Record monthly financial transactions (journal entries) to maintain the general ledger with consistent application of accounting structure.Calculate property allocations. Draft and distribute monthly financial statements for several multi-family properties.Prepare special reports for certain federal and state agencies.Assist with other related accounting projects, increase efficiencies, and perform cost analysis as necessary.Month-end closing journal entries and reporting for multiple rental properties. Specific duties will include preparing asset, liability and capital account entries, substantiating financial transactions by auditing documents and records, reconciling financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information, preparation of month-end general ledger journal entries and supporting reconciliations, preparing special financial reports for supervisors and property owners by analyzing andTop Skills Details:Minimum 3 years hands-on accounting experience required.Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Microsoft Outlook and Explorer.Can attend to highly detailed work accurately and efficiently; able to organize and work independently in an environment of frequent interruptions.Possess a high regard and ability to meet schedules and time-lines; skills in planning and organizing work and excellent ability to work independently with little direction.Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations.Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of employees, clients and the general public. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest and percentages.Make sound and reasonable decisions in accordance with laws, regulations and established procedures.Ability to troubleshoot technical issues with software, hardware and other IT components.Ability to solve practical problems and interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.Additional Skills & Qualifications:Assist with full cycle Accounts Payable (A/P) as needed, which will include collecting and reviewing incoming invoices for accuracy, ensuring proper supervisory approval is obtained in accordance with internal controls, timely entry of weekly invoices into general ledger system, issuing of checks and preparing all checks for mailing, maintaining vendor relations and records, annual preparation and distribution of 1099's. Maintaining an accurate and organized A/P filing system. Maintaining customer and owner confidence by protecting operations and keeping financial information confidential, following internal controls, supporting special projects and process improvement initiatives, date stamping and distributing mail, filing and record keeping in accordance with Oregon Administrative Rules, maintaining professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops when assigned, contributing to team efforts by accomplishing related results as needed. Performs effectively as a team player.
